Gambatte, Sandy!

March 26 update: Congratulations to Sandy! Sandy "Super" Powers returned to Nagoya with nine medals, winning three gold, silver and bronze each. Never one to rest on her laurels, Sandy is already looking forward to the 2009 games in British Colombia.

Nagoya, March 13 - When the 2007 World Police and Fire Games starts on March 16 in Adelaide, Australia, the U.S. Consulate in Nagoya will have special reason to cheer. The Consulate's very own Sandy Powers will be competing in this international sports event that draws eight thousand law enforcement officers and firefighters from across the globe to compete in 79 games over 10 days. A veteran of past games, Sandy is confident shefll do well in her three categories of competition: archery, cycling and running. The consulate gave Sandy a special send-off today and wishes her the best of luck Down Under.
