
Nagoya - The Guided Missile Destroyer USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) made a brief visit to Nagoya, May 19-23. A Vertical Launch Capable Aegis warship, USS PAUL HAMILTON is homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Commanded by Cmdr. Christopher Bushnell, the ship is 153.8 meters long, displaces approximately 8,400 tons and carries a crew of 300. The ship is currently operating in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility as a part of the U.S. 7th Fleet.
The USS Paul Hamilton was visiting Nagoya for rest and recreation. Crewmembers had a chance to meet local citizens through community relations projects and experience local customs, watch the Chunichi Dragons play, and enjoy the local cuisine and traditions of Aichi. In addition to tours of the ship given to invited guests, a gala reception was held aboard Paul Hamilton to celebrate the enduring friendship between the United States and Japan.
