Grass Roots Stretch from Salt Lake to Matsumoto

Matsumoto, June 23 - Daniel Rochman, PO Nagoya, delivered remarks at the 50th annual national conference of the "Fill the World with Flowers" organization. 1,800 people, including Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado and Ambassadors of other three countries that have sister cities of Matsumoto, attended. He praised the group's efforts at promoting environmental beauty and cultivation of aesthetic awareness. The movement started in Matsumoto, a mountainous town in Central Japan, more than fifty years ago and spread throughout Japan. In the speech, the PO also saluted the citizens of Matsumoto for their active sister city exchange programs with the people of Salt Lake, Utah, since 1958. After the ceremony, the PO participated in tree planting in a public park with other dignitaries and local children.
