Nagoya, June 26 - Dr. Richard Dasher, Director of Stanford University's U.S.-Asia Technology Management Center, gave a lecture on how best to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship through industry-university-government collaboration to an audience of over 60 business people, academics, students, and government officials at Nagoya University. Dr. Dasher, in fluent Japanese, described the difference between collaboration systems in the U.S. and Japan and addressed problems and challenges of "knowledge transfer" (rather than technology transfer) in each system with practical and concrete examples from his wide range of experience. The audience nodded in agreement when he concluded that more person-to-person interactions among the respective sectors are necessary to understand each other.
