Scholars Discuss Religions in America

Nagoya, July 28 - The annual Nagoya American Studies Summer Seminar was held at Nanzan University. The theme was "Religions in America," in which three American scholars, Professor Gary Laderman of Emory University, Professor Andrew Rotter of Colgate University and Professor Hortense Spillers of Vanderbilt University, participated as keynote speakers. The keynote speeches and roundtables were open to the public, which were attended by about 200 scholars and graduate students from all over Japan, the U.S. and neighboring Asian countries. At a reception after the seminar, Daniel Rochman, Principal Officer, and Jonas Stewart, Director of the Nagoya American Center, congratulated the planners and participants of the seminar for providing an excellent opportunity for the exchange of American Studies knowledge between scholars from the U.S. and East Asia.
