Archivist Discusses Declassifying World War II and Cold War Era Documents

Nagoya, August 30 - National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Archivist Michael J. Kurtz discussed the latest trends in archiving government documents including the streamlining of the declassification process and the addition of searchable online databases. Mr. Kurtz described NARA's continuing effort to makes more government documents available for research, including documents covering the Second World War, the postwar occupation of Japan and the Cold War. A large group of librarians, scholars, and journalists attended the event which took place at the Nagoya University Library.

Cosponsors included the Tokai District University and Public Library Councils as well as Nagoya University. Nagoya University Library Director Yoshito Itoh moderated the event.
