2008 U.S. Presidential Elections and the U.S.-Japan Relationship

Nagano, October 9 - Weston Konishi, adjunct fellow at the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, discussed the impact of next year's presidential election on U.S.-Japan relations with group of 40 journalists from the Shinano Mainichi Shimbun. After a brief survey of the working relationships between President Bush, Prime Minister Koizumi and Prime Minister Abe, Mr. Konishi discussed the future of relations between the two nations' leadership and the impact of next year's U.S. presidential elections on the bilateral relationship.
