Religion and U.S. Politics

Nagoya, June 10 - Marymount College Behavioral and Social Sciences Professor Roger Robins spoke to an audience of Nagoya-area students about the role of religion in the 2008 presidential election and the Obama Administration.

Professor Robin’s pointed out that, unlike in other G-8 countries, religion still has tremendous influence in American politics.

He discussed the growing importance of religion in presidential politics, pointing out the mobilization of the “religious right” behind George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign and the Democratic Party’s recent efforts to garner support from other religious groups.
